Tips to help you make the most of your trip…
Our standard sessions:
- Can accommodate a class of up to 35 pupils
- Last for 2 hours
- Are available from Monday to Friday during term time
- Start at 9:30am or 1:30pm (negotiable)
- Must be pre-booked 1 week to 1 term in advance
- Are Education Room and Gallery based
- are FREE OF CHARGE
Before your visit:
Familiarise yourself with XplorActive, by checking out the XplorActive section of this website or requesting an information pack. Or why not pop in for a free visit to see it for real?
Have a look at the sessions detailed in the Session Information section, or request an information pack, and choose your preferences to enhance your visit. If you require more session plans, please contact our Education Officer, Geoff Liptrot on 01623 463088.
On the day:
On arrival, please report to the Reception desk at the bottom of the entrance arcade. From here you will be guided to the Education Room.
Your booking ensures that your group has exclusive access at your allocated time. However, there may be members of the public visiting the galleries at the same time as your party. Please ensure that your pupils show consideration to our other visitors.
Please ensure that your school provides adequate supervision for your group. The Museum recommends a minimum of three adults per group; pupils must be accompanied in both the Education Room and the Gallery sessions.
After your visit:
Try out some of the activities contained in our session plans and on the XplorActive section of the Mansfield Museum website. Ask about the loan of one of our relevant Loan Boxes.
Make more of your visit…
If you would like to extend your trip out of school, why not combine your Museum visit with a trip to nearby Carr Bank Park? Carr Bank is only a short walk from Mansfield Museum and makes an ideal spot for a post-museum picnic.
The extensively restored park offers gardens, a children's play area and plenty of open space for little ones to let off steam! Games equipment is also available for you to borrow.
