100 year Anniversary of Brownies and Guides

13 February to 3 April 2010

Next year Mansfield Girl Guiding will be holding an 'Our Guiding Memories' museum display over the 13 February to 3 April at Mansfield Museum. It will show all the things local people have treasured from guiding over the last 100 years. Anyone can come and have a look at the display and we will also be holding a recruitment drive. This is all as part of the centenary celebrations.
We are asking people if they hve anything that can go on display i.e. photos, awards, old uniform, blankets etc. Items are being collected now and everything will be kept with the up most care and love. Your items will be displayed for all of Nottinghamshire to see. The OLDER the better!!
Please contact Laura Thompson on 07967982103 or laura.thompson@babcock.co.uk who will arrange for your items to be displayed and returned to you after the event.

‘Kaleidoscope’

Fibre craftsmanship in a colourful world

The Association of guilds of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers

17 April - 29 May 2010

The objectives of the Association are the preservation and improvement of the craftsmanship in hand weaving, spinning and dyeing for the benefit of the public and the promotion of public education in such craftsmanship.

We are delighted to announce details of our National Exhibition to be held at Mansfield Museum

The title of the exhibition is ‘Kaleidoscope’ referring to ‘Fibre Craftsmanship in a Colourful World’, with entries, in the main, based on this inspiration: think facets, reflections, symmetry – whether literally or metaphorically – and especially colour. This exhibition will introduce some innovations in the selection process with photographs of entries being submitted initially.

More information will follow over the coming months!
