The arcade - Images of Mansfield, past and present…

From penny-farthings to telephone boxes, this airy, glass-roofed arcade serves as your introduction to the Museum and to Mansfield’s history. Here the town’s past and present is celebrated in photos, text and objects.

Many of the items demonstrate the town’s strong manufacturing roots but space is also found for the gas masks, school caps and roller skates which were the stuff of local people’s everyday lives in the not-too-distant past.
